Narrow spots here in Europe and I am a big American who drives a car with long doors. I can't count the number of times I have had to crawl in the passenger side because of poorly parking numbskulls.

I always back in because it's way less likely that someone will block my drivers door when it's towards the entrance of the spot and not right where they'll likely plant their headlights.

Used to be able to do that here too. If someone had pulled into a spot front ways I could then back in next to them and leave a nice gap for my long doors and also not block the person on the other side either. But then management decided to implement the rule that we all must back in to park... dumb rule, supposedly safer, not sure how.

My high school was like that. Made it easier for the meter maid to read out permits or some nonsense.

I think that was the ulterior motive here at work too, to make sure everyone has the company parking permit on their car when security does their drive throughs!

That makes more sense. It's much better if the company actually tells you that rather than just saying "park facing inward because I say so that's why" and insulting everybody's intelligence.
